Can I use my old MB hard drive as an external one?

I bought a new HD (120 gb) but I want to see if it is possible to use my old 80 gb drive as an external one.

Sure is. All you need to do is buy a 2.5" Sata external hard drive case and your good to go. I bought an MB sata HDD on ebay for $1 and spent $30 on an external. So, now I have a sweet 60 GB external drive that only cost me $31 or so. So, go for it
