I want to calibrate my battery, and what I want to know is if I can use sleep mode when in the process of draining the battery (Because I'm charging my MBP 13" as I sleep, then taking it to my friend's house to discharge the battery while I spend my day there. I'll need to close the lid so I can move it elsewhere in my bag.)

The question is: Will putting it into sleep mode reset the process of calibration so that I'll have to recharge it and leave it in the charged state for another 2 hours before draining the battery?

You can safely put the computer in sleep mode to drain the battery. It won't interrupt the calibration process.

However, it will take an awfully long time to drain the battery this way.
