I love an ergonomic keyboard and so I bought Microsoft's one (sorry, but Apple doesn't make one and these have been treating me well over the years). However, there are keys on here that are not on a standard Mac keyboard and I would like to get these to work. Being able to use a key to pull up the calculator or emoticons etc. is going to make life a lot easier. ;) I have tried Karabiner, but that doesn't see those keys. So, is there any program that can learn those keys and then allow you to map them to shortcuts?

Sorry, can't help with keyboard mapping software. It also appears Microsoft's Intellitype is abandonware.

I just wanted to mention that Logitech has a Mac compatible ergonomic keyboard. If you are still within the return window.

Check into "USB Overdrive". I have seen reports that the Calculator key (and the other keys that don't respond on a Mac) on a Windows keyboard actually sends a kind of mouse click and that USB Overdrive can detect it and launch Calculator.

Not sure how up-to-date this information is.

Thanks for the link. I have looked at the Logitech but I liked the curve better on the one I have now. Also, the Microsoft keyboard has more buttons, which means that I have those that the Logitech has (and they work) and some other ones that work and four that do not work, but that are extras. So, nothing to worry about really. It would have been fun to configure those to "end call" or something.

Thanks! I tried it, but apparently, the keyboard is sending mixed messages. When I work with USB Overdrive, it actually then disables a number of my letter keys and most control keys. Not a fun experience. So, I am just going to leave those keys not configured. ;)
