I'm having start-up problems with my Leopard MacBook Pro and I'm wondering if it's possible to boot from my Tiger install disc and try to repair disk permissions. My Leopard disc is back home across the country, so this seems to be the only option I have... if its possible at all.

Try....

I tried this on my mac pro with jaguar on it. By mistake I'd inserted my Tiger Install disc, in order to repair the system. I restarted from the Tiger disc, before I got aware of it. It started up just fine, but I couldn't repair the system-disc. I can't quite remember, but I think it I had a message saying something like: You don't have (enough) permissions...(?)

I dont know if it will be possible for you to run any applications, but in my case there were no harm done starting up from the Tiger-disc.
