Can iPad stream music & vid like AppleTV?

Hi fellas,

Has it been stated if the iPad can stream music and vids from your desktops iTunes sorta like AppleTV?

There is an app that will do this already to the iphone....i cant remember the name but will find it.
Another thread had it mentioned....

These probably wont be as good as an aTV though.
