Man, this just cracks me up.... figures the iPhone would need a paperclip to access the SIM card...like a disk drive or CDROM. Now, where is that eject command?!

I am posting this because removal was a bit confusing at first. but here's how to remove the SIM from the iphone:

Get a paperclip. It does not appear to be spring loaded on press. You need to put the paperclip slightly at an angle and pull up. Careful. your sim and tray will go flying across the room.

The sim tray is metal...and you just pop in the sim card. the tray is spring loaded to make sure the sim stays in snug. slide it back in, and your done. just make sure the hole is on the correct side!! :)

i don't think anyone was having trouble with removing the sim...

Could someone confirm this? I am concerned mostly about "contacts will not be accessible via the SIM". So when the SIM is installed in a NON iPhone, you don't have an address book / contact list??? (That's typically a LOT of numbers to have to remember if you want a secondary phone...)

I've found the following in an AT&T customer service manual:
Apple Global Sales Training/AT&T Learning Services iPhone Launch Training Participant Guide:

If a customer decides to insert their iPhone SIM card into another AT&T device they will have the following experience:
  1. Visual Voicemail will not be available, however regular voicemail will be accessible by pressing “1” to hear messages.
  2. MEdiaNet will be used to access the Internet. MMS and IM messages are included in the customer’s iPhone Data Plan.
  3. Contacts will not be accessible via the SIM.
  4. Contacts added to the SIM while in another device will not be synced back to iPhone

Is this some sort of joke or are you high or drunk? I don't hate the iPhone, in fact I am buying one, and I was told this by two other macrumor members when I made a post asking a similar questions, so I was just passing along info. Seriously, take your head out of your ass and take a chill pill, its just a stupid phone.

I have removed my sim card 10 times, it is made so anyone can do it even a cat! :)

Iphone sim in another AT&T Phone, YES!

I also had the same quiestion, as I do not want to take my iPhone to nightclunbs, concerts, beach etc. I have an old Sony Ericsson Z520(?) and I slipped the iPhone sim in and it made and answered calls perfectly. NOT, I also read that it can damage your sim card over long periods of doing this, but I don't believe it. I think the only thing IMHO to worry about if at all, is the lack of features you may or may not encounter if using a sim meant for another phone, but YES, it works!!!!

another note, my Ericsson has bluetooth also, so I exported my address book on My Mac as a vcard, and used the "send file" to bluetooth device, and pointed it to the Sony from my Mac Pro, and it did send all my contacts to my sony Ericsson phone, that was a big plus as the Sony was given to me from someone else and I needed a way to get my contacts onto it, and you cannot copy them from the sim card for some reason so I "Blue-toothed" them in. Hope that helps anyone trying to do the same
