but with the magsafe wich is now on sale.. is there data transmit possbile.. i dont think so..
Do you know if magnetic data transfer exists in a way that would be usable for the iPhone?no. It just sticks things to the phone and helps line them up

It’s been reported that it is NFC in the cases. Is there some type of data transfer happening with the new MagSafe cases, or did Apple add an NFC tag to the new cases? When I put my phone into the case, a ring shows up on the phone that matches the case color. If this is happening through MagSafe, maybe there is data transfer capability that Apple hasn't yet publicly acknowledged.
Has anyone torn apart a MagSafe case yet? I'm not volunteering mine, though I figure some millennial on YouTube has done it by now 😁

Transfing data via iTunes using Wi-Fi isn’t great, and it takes much longer to do versus using a wired connection. That would ultimately require another wireless standard for data exchange as the chargers are inductive. But the device can already speak Bluetooth, wifi and has cellular connectivity- my guess is the portless phones of the future will use one of these methods to communicate.
Yup @mbawkher, it’s almost a guarantee at this point, especially after the stupid legislation they’re trying to pass in the EU to force all phone manufacturers to switch to USB-C. I don’t see Apple doing that in the iPhone. I think they’ll go straight to fully wireless and skip another port.
My understanding is that as Lonny as the phones do wireless charging, there’s no need to include a port. So it makes sense that Apple is positioning MagSafe as the future.Would that not be contradictory to the upcoming requirements in the EU as the device then still doesn’t have the port they want?
Either way I’ll be happy for the day my iPads and iPhones aren’t forced to use different cables anymore.
How does the Magsafe battery pack tell the iPhone how much energy it has left?
