I am looking at replacing my dead imac. Can the new imacs run final cut pro or final cut express or do i need a powermac. I am thinking of getting the 2.8GHz with 2GB and 500GB harddrive or would the 1GB be enough.

Agreed. Though storage could become an issue if you're working on a feature-length project (but externals can easily sort that).

Mine runs it just fine (2.4 GHz C2D. 2 GB RAM). But yeah, you may want to bump the RAM to 2GB, just to eliminate paging problems with the memory.
