So I have a Thecus NAS that is sharing a backup folder which contains an old sparcebundle. I am using both AFP and SMB protocols. I am unable to delete the sparcebundle using the Thecus file manager or the finder. It keeps saying the file is busy everytime I try to delete it. Any ideas?

I ran into a similar situation on an Apple Time Capsule (1st gen) and I decided to simply format the drive to blow the corrupted sparsebundle away.

Another option is for you to shut off Time Machine. In finder, browse to the share with the sparsebundle and in the right hand pane you should see a button labeled "Disconnect". Click it and your mac is no longer connected to the backup drive. I decided to format mine rather than spend time debugging. If you still can't delete it after trying these things and you grow tired of spending time on this, you are faced with reformatting the drive like I did.
