Hello all, so I hate to be that guy but I’ve had a few iPhone 11’s in a row (dead pixels etc) and I’m not sure if my replacement is faulty or not and was wondering if anyone could help.

Basically I’ve had every phone with the Taptic Engine and I’m used to it but I think my current may phone be faulty. The easiest example is just to either toggle a green switch on and off, or lift the home bar into the app switcher.

When you do either of these you will feel a “thud” from the vibration. Obviously that’s normal. But on my phone you can hear a tiny little “tap” like noise just before the thud. You have to be in a quiet room and the phone close to your face but once you hear it you can’t ignore it. It’s almost like the Taptic Engine is readying to vibrate.

Is this something that’s normal and I’ve totally missed or do a have a slightly faulty Taptic Engine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated and apologies if the explanation isn’t as clear as could be.

There have been some reports that the Taptic Engine is noisy on iPhone 11 (Pro).

You might be justified...

Seems to be a non-issue overall though.
