EDIT: Move along, nothing to see here! I'm an idiot; the "click" is a literal sound effect played with the haptic feedback. Thanks to @Waterman316 for sharing that wisdom.

iPhone 11 Pro Max actually.

I was of the impression that haptics should be felt and not heard. Yet the haptic engine in my phone is rather audible. Turning the flashlight on and off from the lock screen sounds like flipping a light switch on and off. Here's a quick video (check it out here). Is yours similar? My previous iPhone X had a similarly noisy Taptic Engine. My wife's iPhone XS is quiet as a mouse comparatively.

lol. That’s normal. There’s a clicking sound that was added to it in a software update a little while ago. Theres a way to turn it off I think but not sure. Put your phone on vibrate and see if it still does it.

That’s a non-issue. Just because the taptic engine might seem slightly louder over a previous device doesn’t indicate anything is ‘wrong’ with it. For the record, my iPhone 7 Was different from my iPhone 8 in terms Of how audible it was.

ROFL good call. Indeed not so audible when silent. Sigh... Thanks for the tip and much apologies for my dumbassery!

That's really interesting though. They had to think about what sound the action might make, and I imagine they tested a lot of sounds before settling on this one.
