Can PowerBook G4 take 160GB ATA-100?

I was hoping to upgrade my PowerBook with the Seagate Momentus linked here:

Seagate Momentus 5400.3 160GB U100 8MB Cache


Is this possible? Is there a limit on the PowerBooks? Of course, am I looking at the correct type of HD?

yeah its not fun taking a pb apart, you can do it but you need a few little screw drivers. theres a fix-it guide on the internet that will show you how to do it

If it's a TiBook, then you'll be wanting a torx T8 driver. If it's an Alibook you'll need a good quality philips 00 driver and a torx T6 (IIRC).

Don't buy crap as you'll chew up the screw-heads. Torx drivers, being a bit special, are generally good quality but cross points are another matter. I bought a "CK" branded set of watchmakers screwdrivers in a proper case from a reputable toolshop and they've lasted many years.

Look after your tools and they'll look after you!

I'd tend to avoid the likes of B&Q. There are a couple of shops I'd use in Brighton. They only sell tools and they've been in business for years. The owners really know what they're selling. You must have a shop like that near you.

Otherwise something like these:
