It's all in the title. I've only had one freeze in my whole Mac's life and it may have been because I tried to do too much while my spotlight was reindexing. Could that be why it froze?

Can ReIndexing cause freezes?

Reindexing requires spotlight to read everything on your drive. It would take a large amount of your disk read/writes per second, especially on a hdd. It could cause a crash.
