Yes, it can.
It's actually pretty neat because it'll give you a decimal answer and an answer in simplest radical form. (9.797958971 and 4√6)
It can do much more advanced math than square roots if I remember correctly.

Can you ask it what the square root of 69 is and post what it says?
If it says "8 something" I will laugh hard.
Siri will integrate with WolframAlpha for math questions. You can type a question into wolframalpha.com to see how Siri might answer it, e.g. "what is the exponential of 3"
Damn, I would have laughed if it got the joke/song reference. Thanks anyways for posting it.
I know for a fact that it will do calculus tasks like finding the derivative of a problem. (High school ap calc student here)
