Carrier Can someone clear up Verizon LTE on an iPad for me?

First of all, I apologize as I am sure that this has been answered in the past. I did a search but couldn't find a clear explanation (probably because I didn't know what specifically to search for).

What I have gathered is that Verizon, the wonderful chaps, do not participate with the Apple Sim. Is this correct?

If so, what are the steps I have to take in order to activate the iPad on my Family Share plan?

You do need a Verizon sim, but it's free from a VZW store (or they may mail one to you? - not sure, never tried).
