OK I have been playing around with the idea of getting a mini and upgrading its processor. I have looked at the T7600 which is the 2.33GHz chip and that has been used successfully in the mini before, but I also saw the T7700 2.4GHz chip but no mention of whether that has worked in a mini.

Anyway that is not the real purpose of this post.

On Amazon UK the T7600 is about £400 whilst the T7700 is only £190, how does that work?

I assume the T7600 was top of it's line, but the T7700 is of a newer line and a bit lower down the order.

Correct, sorta.

The t7600 is the highest speed chip compatible with the mini (= socket m (479), 667 Front Side Bus).

The t7700 is a socket P, which is the type used in the newer macbook/pros, IIRC.
