i can never get it to work right. I'll do the nifty little trackpad thing on the keyboard to move the cursor to a certain word and then it'll just start highlighting crap all over the place. Then I have to start over and it does it again. How do I just move the cursor and when does it start highlighting stuff?

You move the cursor with your finger - poke it where you want to start selecting. Press and hold to fine tune the position and to reveal the menu. Choose "Select". Drag one end of the resulting cursors (with the blue dots) over the text you want to select. The blue dots are like handles you grab by clicking with your finger, holding down your finger, and dragging it over the text you want to select.

No no I mean when you're using the keyboard like a trackpad with your two fingers.

Oh, sorry. I don't use a keyboard with an iPad.
