Can someone explain the difference between "All" & "Missed" notifications?

Almost all my notifications show up in both tabs which makes it pretty pointless IMO.

I think this discussion helped me realize the purpose of the missed tab... and more importantly how to explain it.

You know how in prior iOS versions when you had a notification on your lock screen and then unlocked the phone, that notification was lost and gone forever? Well, that's the purpose of the missed tab! It's where those notifications go.

It just became way more useful.

Apple just needs to rename it.

I think this person has it, not 100% sure but seems the most likely.

It's redundant and stupid, but people will try to tell you it makes sense.

What exactly is this supposed to mean?
