You are not being charged twice- When first requested the card company provides a authorization number, when they submit the charge the authorization is cleared. If they charge again, which is possible the old authorization falls over within a certain number of days.
i am assuming this is a debt card, one of the main reason i never use a debit card for critical transactions.
THe funds will be removed from your balance until the authorization is either used or expires.
It is possible there was a mix up on the dates. I would relax, give it a few days (about 3-4) and the preauth should clear up. I've had the dates reversed on my statements before for preauths nbd
