Can someone explain what is mini led backlighting

heard next year ipad going to have the mini led backlighting... can someone explain what is the different the current iPad Pro Liquid Retina display compare to the mini led backlighting?

Sort of like QLED..still IPS LCD w/ LED backlights but smaller LEDs with improved brightness, colors,and contrast. It will allow the ipad to show true HDR quality video but not as good as OLED or MicroLED ......it will beat OLED in terms of overall brightness and no chance of burn in.

Samsung QLED has nothing to do with mini-or microleds. It´s just marketing term and it`s sounds allmost OLED so it`s ment to confuse customers. Most of the QLEDs tv`s are normal edge led and higher ends are full array led-backlight. But the led`s are normal, typical size and thats why FALD-models have low number of zones what can be invidually adjusted. Minileds are much smaller in size and you can have much greater number of zones and in theory, it works allmost like OLED without it disadvantages. But still every pixel don`t have own separate light source and they are grouped in zones. Microled is smaller in size and then you can have ”self emiting” pixels depending on screen resolution.

I would love to get an oled ipad in the coming years but if Apple going to move to mini led backlighting I don’t see Apple going to make a oled ipad soon
