I have an early 2006 Intel iMac that I would love to put an SSD in. It's winding down in it's life, but it's still a good machine. It's a Core 2 Duo so it's not much compared to newer machines, but I feel like it could fly with a new hard drive and some more RAM.

Last year I bought a Kingston SSDNow (128 GB) and tried to install it. The OS didn't even notice that it was in there, even in Disk Utility. I can't remember for sure, but I think it did recognize it as an external when plugged in via USB. Obviously I would like it to be installed inside the machine via SATA.

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to firmware, different SATA types, etc. I was hoping that someone might know if there are any SSD's out there that might actually be compatible with my machine. Any help is appreciated!

My serial number is QP6170V0U2S if you want to look up my specs on here:

If you need any screenshots of my hardware overview let me know.
