That's Snow Leopard.

EDIT: Try starting your Mac in safe mode. Turn it off and after your hear the chime, hold shift.
 
You have to EXTRACT the files from the zip file, THEN it wil work.

Hundreds and hundres have been hung up right where you are cause they didn't EXTRACT the files after downloading the .zip

I'm kinda lost so im gona ask you like this..

Turn macbook off>turn back on> after chime hold shift>open absinthe?

Yea. Hold shift until the apple pops up. Your OS may look a little weird. It's OK. Start Absinthe then plug your phone in. You can restart and boot normally afterwards.
 
I jailbroke mine on a Snow Leopard computer. Who said it has to be Lion? I couldn't get Ansinthe to work on my Lion iMac. (see post on last page)
