I have looked on YouTube, forums, etc. All I want to do is be able to trim a clip. When I select a point and get the vertical line, if I move the mouse, the line moves. Is there not a shortcut to select everything before or after a selected point so that I can easily edit a clip????

If yuo right click when you have the line where you want it there should be a "trim to selection" option or something like that.

Maybe you have to drag the little highlight box from the beginning of where you want the clip until the point you want to trim it and right click to see what options you have. The red line itself is just a marker.
