Okay, I've reassembled the machine, but unfortunately snapped one of the wires connecting to the power button.

When connecting 2 cables of the power button together, it fired right up to the desktop!
I've been using it for a couple of hours, rebooting it multiple times in the meantime, but after that I shut it down and reseated the bottom CPU and put the screws into them, now it won't power up again.

It just does nothing, no click no light no nothing, like you forgot to plug in the power cable... I've checked the power cable multiple times, and even tried another one, but right now the machine just refuses to turn on.

Anybody has an idea?

Does the PSU make a click noise when you plug in the cable? And are the processor pins bent?
PSU makes no click sound, nothing happens at all.
I've already checked the pins multiple times, they're fine.

I'm thinking the front i/o panel might be dead, but how can I rule out failure of other hardware?
It is strange because it booted right up and functioned for hours untill I shut it down and took the bottom CPU out to fix a wire that had got trapped behind one of the screws.

When I put the CPU back into place and touched the wires against each other the machine wouldn't do anything anymore.
I've left the bottom CPU out to make it boot with the top CPU only (troubleshooting guide states it can?} but that didn't do anything either.

Is there a way I can start the PowerMac with completely bypassing the front I/O panel, like you can start an ATX motherboard with a screwdriver?

Otherwise I really don't know what's wrong with the machine.

What I've tried already:
- Boot without RAM
- Put each dimm in each dimm slot
- Boot with both CPU's
- Boot with just 1 CPU
- Reseat the CPU's, Graphics card and RAM
- Boot without Graphics card

But no avail, it just doesn't show any signs of power at all.

The fact that the PSU isn't clicking means that either a. The PSU is bad b. The power cord is bad or c. The outlet is bad

I've already tried fixing b and c.
Strange though, it wouldn't work, suddenly after disassembling and reassembling it it would work again, and now it won't work again.

Kind of a shame tho, but I think the troubleshooting stops here.
I've found someone who wants to buy the machine for me, he still has some love to give to it, I unfortunately do not have the time and money to fix up the machine.

Thanks for the help from everybody who participated in this thread.
