I would like to purchase an iphone. I had an android phone which was very slow. I used virgin mobile, the $35 plan where you get unlimited text and internet and 300 minutes a month. I rarely ever go up 100 minutes so no point in paying 10 dollars more or 20 more for unlimited everything.Im not that familiar with iphones but from what i see the newest one out there is the iphone 5s. I had heard of the iphone 4 and iphone 4s.

    1. Is Virgin mobile and t mobile the only 2 carriers out there that is month to month contract and no yearly contract? I hear lot of people use verizon, at and t and sprint and have year plans. Is there a reason why? I think you get the phone free or big discount but then again you paying 70+ a month so the phone isn't really free if you go with a cheaper plan. I also hear ppl paying 100+ for their cell phone plans. is that because they want lot of 4g data?

    2. Which iphone should i get? I know there is 4, 4s and 5s and saw there is something like 5c. The 5c looks like a kiddish color and not interested in it. 5s looks really big but i read people say its better , faster etc but cost a lot more. The 4s looks like the best compromise if i dont want to spend 500+ for an iphone? I see they have it for 260 or so for the iphone 4s 8g.

    3. I see virgin mobile has a sale at the moment for the iphone 4, iphone 4s, and iphone 5s. Is there iphone 4 8gb really that not good? It cost 160 dollars and after discount and tax... its basically only 150 dollars thats pretty cheap for an iphone. I know processor is slower but is it really that slow? Thing is i look at it and it seems like iphone 4s with 16gb would be best. However, virgin mobile doesn't seem to sell it new... only used. They have the 8gb only though. Anyone know where i can get this?

    4. How much space minimum should i get? My ipod touch is 32gb but i rarely went over 8gb. However, i also rarely used it much and all i had there was tons of music. However, i would definitely use more of the iphone more with apps and some other stuff so its best 16gb min? I know 32gb would be way way too much as i never would use that much space.

    5. T Mobile Plan? Who here uses iphone with virgin mobile and with t mobile? Which do you prefer? Is the t mobile plan 50 dollars a month unlimited everything? Does t mobile still sell iphone 4 or 4s? I dont see it on their site.

    6. Black or White? I don't know but the white looks better than the black. Some say it looks bit feminine.

7.. 3g vs 4g? Is it true t mobile plans you get 4g but with virgin mobile you dont get 4g unless you get an iphone 5? My android phone i used 3g and i felt like the speed was okay but not that fast with virgin mobile but it was perfectly fine.

At this point, i think its best to go with virgin mobile and get a 4s iphone either 8gb or 16s. Preferbably 16gb but i can't seem to find it online unless its used which is not what i want. Would like feedback from those who have iphone service with virgin mobile or t mobile.

It seems like the only place to get a 16gb iphone 4s is on ebay? I see they have that on ebay. Im pretty sure i saw virgin mobile had 16gb 4s a while back but now theres no more available.

    Thoughts?

Straight Talk, AIO wireless, Cricket, Boost, etc. all do month to month plans. Just shop around and see what has a plan you like. If Virgin works for you, then stick with it.

I just switched to a plan where I pay $175 a month for 5 lines that share 10GB of data on AT&T. Seems like a good deal to me and AT&T has coverage in the places that I go.

Sounds like you're already on the right path regarding the phone. You could probably spend another $100-ish and get an iPhone 5 on craigslist if you look around. You'll just have to make sure it's compatible with the carrier you pick.

The iPhone 4 is nearly a 4 year old phone now. It's slow and won't get many more updates. Personally, I'd avoid it. The 4s is a great phone, the 5 is even better. The 5c is essentially an iPhone 5 in a plastic chassis instead of aluminum, and the 5s is the top end iPhone that just came out in September of last year.

I always get the highest capacity model available, because I know I'll use it. If you've never used more than 8GB on your iPod touch, you'd probably be fine with a 16GB iPhone.

Virgin Mobile operates on the Sprint network, which is CDMA and has fairly slow data speeds. T-Mobile owns their own network, uses GSM which is a more global standard(not sure if this is important to you), and typically, they have faster data speeds.

T-Mobile still has the 4s. I doubt they sell the 4.

I liked the white iPhone 4 and 4s. I think the black iPhone 5/5s looks best. Pick the color you like and forget what people say...

T-Mobile is going to be faster, but if you're happy with Virgin then don't worry about it.

    thanks for that response.

Where does t mobile sell the 4s? I dont see it on the website? Is their monthly plan cost 50/month+tax?

Virgin mobile has 35+tax and that is what i paid back when i used virgin mobile with an android phone. But i read if u use an iphone, its actually 5 dollars off so 30+tax for 300 minutes and unlimited eveerthing?

Well actually i was deciding between the 4 or 4s. I dont want the 5 because i dont need the most updated/expensive one. Also i dont like how the screen size is bigger than the original one.

But if i had to choose between the iphone 4 or iphone 4s, clearly go with the 4s then right?

I found some people selling the iphone 4s 16gb used with virgin mobile. Would you say buying it from ebay used would be fine? Of course i only buy from ppl with positive reviews.

I like to mention that i would not be activating this phone when i get it until later on as well. Also i will be using it on a single plan and not share plan when i do activate it in the future. Thoughts on this?

I guess I assumed they would. I don't see it on their website either. You can buy a new one from Apple if you want, but they're $450.

I'm not sure, I've never used Virgin Mobile. It would probably be best to call and ask them.

The screen on the iPhone 5 IS bigger, but it is a more standard size for phones. Additionally, it doesn't actually make the phone itself that much larger.

For sure. I wouldn't go for an iPhone 4 at this point in time(unless you got one for REAL cheap.

Just make sure you understand what you're buying. With iOS 7 phones now have a feature called activation lock. Basically it makes stolen phones useless. If you stick with sellers with a good amount of positive reviews, you'll probably be fine.

I don't think that will cause any problems, but I don't know how Virgin Mobile plans work.

Check out Consumer Cellular. Kind of like Straight Talk, but without the WalMart factor. Uses ATT towers. Very good. Better known as a company catering to old people with big-button phones, but I got an iPhone through them.

How much is real cheap when you say you wouldn't get the iphone 4 unless it was real cheap?

Virgin mobile has the iphone 4 with 8gb for 160+tax

    http://www.virginmobileusa.com/shop/cell-phones/iPhone4-8GB-phone/features/

Is that considered real cheap to you? Seems so to me.

Virgin mobile has the iphone 4s with 8gb for 280+tax

    http://www.virginmobileusa.com/shop/cell-phones/iPhone4S-8GB-white-phone/features/

Is that real cheap to you? Thats a pretty big differnce in my opinion.

Also i checked the link you gave for the tmobile iphone 4s with 8gb. Its 450 dollars. is there a reason that phone cost that much with tmobile... 450 dollars when its only 280 with virgin mobile? Thats a 170 dollar difference.

I think i could probably get a used iphone 4s 16gb on ebay for around 260 or so. Would you say thats probably the ideal choice of the 3? The 1st two being the virgin mobile 4 8gb for 160 dollars and the 4s 8gb for 280 dollars? Of course its 8 more gb but it would be used.

Personally I wouldn't pay more than $100 for an iPhone 4. If you think it's good enough, then your usage may differ enough from mine that it won't make a difference to you.

    okay.

But if i could get a used iphone 4s 16gb for roughly the same price as an iphone 4s 8gb new... would you say better to go with the used 16gb or the new 8gb new?

As long as the phone you buy works with Virgin Mobile, yes.

As far as I know, you can use Sprint phones. You may want to look into that, it could give you more options.

But is there anything wrong with buying a used iphone if its in good condition? Bit frustrated b/c a while back they had this phone brand new for 320 on the site but now not available.

Apple only makes the 8GB version now, so any old stock was used up and if you want a higher capacity new in box unit, you'll have to go with the 5c or 5s.

There is nothing wrong with buying used. My old iPhones have lasted long past the amount of time I'd have use for them.

The 4S is kind of outdate to get at this point. It's possible it won't support the next version of iOS. The 5/5s looks bigger because it has a widescreen display; the width is the same.
