Damn. This is unlike Apple. Spotlight should function the same on both iOS and OSX so you don't have to think about it.

Always been differences and inconsistencies between iOS and OS X. Even iOS on iPhone differs from iOS on iPad in some places (beyond just size-related items).

Yes, Spotlight is not doing currency conversion

and no, if you add a currency conversion to stock app and add it to notification center you'll get the conversion there.
