I know this can be achieved with the M2 Pro through hdmi 2.1. But can this be done on the regular M2 pro mini with thunderbolt? I’m reading conflicting reports on the forum.

Needs more testing.

But with the M1 generation of all variants, the TB ports are capable of doing 4k120 with DP alt-mode. The catch is that it almost never works if a HDMI conversion is in the chain, such as going to an LG C2 OLED and you get a DP to HDMI2.1 converter in between.

Doubtful for a HDMI device unless was added in 13.2, has been a software issue in MacOS, has worked fine to DisplayPort monitors

I am currently doing over 120Hz with the M1 Mac Mini, or do you mean 4K @120Hz?

I am guess he is doing 1440p120 or even 1080p120, both which even HDMI 2.0 can handle.

And yes we are talking about 4k120, this is the threshold of proving HDMI 2.1 bandwidth.

To a HDMI display or displayport?
200Hz with DisplayPort over TB3 and 165Hz on HDMI:
