i found a deal on a mac pro and he said that the optical drive is causing some problems.

can this be easily swapped out?

where do i buy the drive?

Yes you can. It is just a standard PATA DVD Writer. Nearly any DVD Writer from nearly any store would work, or any other drive you want to use. It should be no more difficult than replacing an optical drive in a PC Tower.

Yes. Any ATA/IDE drive will work. You can even use SATA drives with a little finagling.

I got a BD-RE/HD DVD-ROM/DVD±RW/CD-RW drive to put in my future Mac Pro.
