Can the Digital / Analog sound outputs be used at the same time?

Quick question regarding the Mac Pro's Optical and Analog sound outputs.

Can they both be used at the same time to output different things? Do they show up as 2 separate sound outputs or just the 1?

The reason I ask is because I will be using Traktor DJ software and would like to send different audio to my speakers / headphones.
