Can the emoji keyboard be turned off?

I'd like to install an emoji app, and enable them, but I'm worried about two things:

a) it'll screw up my phone

b) I won't be able to turn emoji off.

Can anyone put my mind at ease please?

1. Just get one from the App store

2. You can turn it off in the keyboard settings

Just to give you a heads up, the Emoji On/Off switch is under "Japanese" in the keyboard settings.

Nah, you can't screw it up... plus to use it, it only uses one little button next to the space button. So you'd be good.
