Can the Gold Master be updated if a second Gold Master is released?

I'm tempted to download El Capitan and perform a clean install, but what happens if a second Gold Master is released? Is there just a simple update downloaded from the App Store?

Will I be able to update (if needed) to a 100% final version?

Yes you will be able to install the latest version of El Cap straight away.
Just like iOS 9.

If I were a betting man I would say there will be at least one more GM Candidate before September 30th.

If there is nothing wrong there will only be one GM. I believe that over the last couple of years each big OS update only got one GM.

A GM Candidate is something different than a GM, Apple calls it the GM seed for a reason this year. 🙂

Apple specifically is calling it a GM Candidate in the Downloads in the App Store. There technically will not be a GM until September 30th.

If another GM is cut, then it will be done as a new download not as an update to the existing GM.
