Can the iphone's ipod/wireless features be used without a SIM card?

Can the ipod and wifi features be used without a sim card in the phone? If I go back and forth between the iphone and my blackberry, when my SIM is in my BB can I still use the iphone as an ipod or use the wifi?

Yes. I kept my 2G phone and use it as an iPod Touch.
