Silly question, but a question none the less.

Can the iPad upgrade to the iOS 4 that was released for the iPhone/iPod Touch?

*I have a feeling no because it's not meant for the Screen Res, or to take advantage of the hardware, but thats just a guess, Im unsure*

I know it's a silly question, but Im curious so I had to ask.

Yeah it is silly. Jobs already said the iOS 4 upgrade will be in the fall.

    No. That'd be stupid anyway.

The ios4 that was released was built for the iphone. Obviously if it was ready for the ipad, Apple would release it now. There is no way to port it.
It's not like Apple releases the source code to the iOS operating system.

They didn't ask about "importing." They asked about porting. Two entirely different things.

Don't answer questions that are obviously over your head.

Not yet. Apple needs to get the iPhone 4 released and be sure there are no 911 fixes needed before turning the iOS4 team on the iPad.

He said fall. So you wait until fall. Go jailbreak your ipad or wait until fall.

Actually... one guy on another website said that he has seen this done to iPads and this laptop repair guy I bumped into last week said he was planning on using the iOS4 upgrade to fix a couple issues people are having with their iPads. I am not a tech guy, so I dont know, but this is what I have seen from two entirely different sources...

i actually have no intention of being a member of this forum nor ever posting again but i came across this thread and was so shocked at how unfriendly and just down right rude everyone across the board seems to be here . i was motivated to register just to make this post... wow... you guys are just unreal.. man i hope karma catches up with you guys and softens your hearts a little... totally un-necessary to treat people like that no matter what they ask... just wow... bitter all the way, a little sugar (non-literal) in your life perhaps?

Your totally right. There are some complete tools around these forums that waste their time spreading hate with unnecessary comments.

That said there are very helpful polite people here too. The tone on this website does seem to have declined in more recent years.

People are getting more and more frustrated with people coming onto the forum, creating an account, and asking a question that would have taken them less time to search for.

I completely agree. I had the same thoughts when I first joined and read some of the posts.

Just becuase someone asks a question that has already been answered or they could of searched about it and found the answer, does that mean its ok to be rude? Would you act the same if they were asking you in person? I doubt it! !

Not all people are familiar with forums when they join and are not aware of the Search Tools etc that are available to them.

Give it a rest. Life is too short.

On the other hand, if someone went into a golf club for the first time and talked loudly while a player was trying to take a swing, would you accept "I didn't know the rules because it was my first time here" as an excuse?

hmm... not sure i follow but...

This is not just to you mate but to all the rude folks in this thread..

I guess there is really no point in arguing this. It seems you folks (the rude ones) are defending your right to be rude... i certainly don’t wish to challenge your right to be nasty as well... it is your right.

If that’s the way you choose to live your life then by all means… piss yourself into oblivion.

I just think it’s rather silly and unnecessary... i actually run professional services for my company and perform work that is highly technical. I deal with all sorts of people of varying technical abilities and experience. Aside from the fact it just makes you feel awful to be so nasty i would probably find myself in the unemployment line very quickly if i chose that route...

Well you can’t get fired from life... but you certainly can find yourself very much alone and angry at yourself if you alienate everyone around you because you feel you are so much smarter and superior to them.

Some of the posters that commented after I added my post (which I intended to be my first and last! you showed me!) were simply trying to be honest and share their feelings only to be bashed again by you folks that seem very brave behind your keyboards...

Have you guys/gals ever been to a grocery store or mall or whatnot.. and seen some little old lady or maybe someone your mom’s age being helped kindly by someone... and you thought "gee i hope when my sister/mother/daughter/girlfriend (whoever) goes out into the world people treat them kindly ...

well it’s amazing how the universe slings back at you everything you put out.. If you treat people like this.. i can almost guarantee you , that one day someone you love very dearly will be hurt and belittled in very much the same way you've done to these folks.. it’s a shame...

it really takes far less energy and feels awfully good to be sweet and understanding with people and just answer their questions.. (Vice being pompous, arrogant, and unapproachable) after all that’s what folks go on forums for right? To look for answers and answer peoples questions?

So why are you so angry/bitter? Is this your job? It’s like going to the ice skating rink and getting pissed off at the owner for keeping it so dang cold in there!

If you don’t like what people are asking... maybe you should stay off the forums... Sour puss: p

Looking forward to your cunning remarks and grammatical corrections!

Please show me how really brilliant people such as you really do it… come on let me have it! Your talents truly are amazing…

Whilst I do agree with you, getting yourself upset and having a rant over others behaviour is fruitless and truly not worth the hassle.

Sometimes it's better just to  and move on. Your first post said it all really,I don't think you need this last post at all.

I won't justify others remarks as it is not my place to do so, but the only thing I will correct you on is this. There are thousands of threads and posts here. You have picked up on a fairly bad one as an example, there are far more which actually demonstrate thoughtful posting. It's like finding some bad grains amongst a bag full of grain and declaring the whole lot to be rotten.

You do have a valid point, but overstating this thread in the scheme of things.

You missed or ignored my point entirely. While I personally try to refrain from answering rudeness with rudeness (I won't claim I succeed 100%), I was pointing out that people who come into a forum and post without first reading and understanding forum rules are being rude themselves.

And btw, you pick *this* thread to rant on? This was extremely mild. You should see some of the FAIL! threads!

It's pretty obvious, upper left part of the screen says FAQs/Rules. Don't read em? Don't post.
