Can third party adapters & dongles harm the macbook pro? I see so many available on amazon at such great prices and want to buy some but I am worried they will break my macbook pro. Can this even happen?

There aren't enough "from the field" reports yet to know, or not know...

I went with Monoprice cables given great price and generally reputable quality. I'm using the below with my 13" tbMBP:

- USB-C to Displayport Adaptor (to use my own DP cable) - confirm it will do 4K @ 60hz
- USB-C to USB-B 3.0 (for my USB 3.0 external HD)
- USB-C to USB-B 2.0 (for my USB 2.0 audio DAC)

They have a section specifically for USB-C cables (no TB3 cables though).

I also have used the nonda USB-C to USB-A small adaptor with multiple devices and no issues (available on Amazon).

there are many 3rd party adaptors or dongles listed on amazon that have over a yr track record-
other computers have used these for a yr or longer.
