I'm looking into getting an ioSafe hard drive to attach by USB to my Mac Mini and use Time Machine to back it up. I'd also like to back up my Windows 7 PC to the same drive. Can I configure Time Machine to backup up an attached Windows 7 drive or part thereof? Windows 7 backup would make more sense, but it's $90 extra to upgrade to Pro to backup to a network drive.

Thanks for any help

i think time machine will only let you back up HFS+ drives, so OSX formatted drives only. I'm sure there are other programs that could fill the gap though.

You can format your external drive to have both HFS+ and NTFS partitions to satisfy both OSes.

Thanks,

After checking to see if Windows 7 could back up to an HFS drive, which it can't, a dual format seems the best option.
