You would need a very specific power bank to do so as usb-c can push/pull a hell of a lot more wattage than usb offers

You might charge your power bank from the MacBook instead

This is something that is confusing me. I have the Xiaomi Mi 10400 mAh powerbank and since it has both a micro-USB and standard USB ports, I can just buy a micro-USB to USB-C adapter and I can charge the Macbook using the powerbank or the powerbank using the Macbook. Now: how can I decide I want the Macbook to charge the powerbank and not the other way around?

I remember when companies were circumventing the magsafe requirement to make 3rd party battery packs by buying up old chargers and cutting/splicing the magsafe adapter.

I bet with USB C being a universal standard people can now easily make battery banks. But with the supposed all day battery life, it may not be as much of a concern.
