I have PWM sensitivity too and to those that don’t - believe it or not, it’s real.

What does it feel like?:

- Even glancing at an OLED iPhone for 10-20 seconds can hurt.
- You don’t get an initial immediate pain. Imagine how your eyes feel after looking at the sun or an arc-lite from a welder 30 seconds to a minute after accidentally looking at these.
- I know it sounds a bit unbelievable but it’s really like that.

As to suing Apple. In a way, I feel I am. I’m not upgrading my XR until we have mini-LED iPhones.

Maybe that’ll be 22. Most likely it’ll be 23-24.

I guess until then, [EDIT: if my XR dies] my next phone will be a reconditioned 11 - I won’t buy it from Apple though.

I personally believe that it’s a thing. I just don’t think suing a company for using a particular display technology (when many companies use said technology) is reasonable. Especially when there are other LCD options available. The SE2020 or an android phone. Just because you’ve loved iPhones up till now doesn’t mean that Apple is obligated to keep everything the same.

The OLED PWM issue was worse for me with iPhone X, it improved with XS a little but it still caused me issues. I moved to iPhone 11 and no issues then to iPhone 12 Pro and now no issues. It’s seems somewhere between the XS and iPhone 12 Apple made some changes. I cannot confirm this on a technical level just what I experienced.

We are a group of citizens and users who have been suffered by Apple's OLED screen for years, and our children will have the similar damage sooner or later as Apple is driving this tech trend globally.
You believe OLEDs are harmfull to you and you keep buying it for yourself and then for your children. And now you want to sue Apple? Are you nuts? :D

There are apparently a lot of users best friends of apple and take it personally if someone wants to sue them.

but there were to many occasions which proved that only this makes your best buddy move.
Just a few reminders: ipod battery replacement, iphone throttling, macbook display cable, 15% apple store tax, external apple store buying links

“Can we file a lawsuit?” Anyone who pays the filing fee can file one. The one you’re proposing, though, would not likely last beyond an early motion for summary judgment. If you don’t like the OLED technology used by Apple for whatever reason, buy something else.

PWM sensitivity is in a way like sea sickness. Some people get horribly ill while others feel perfectly fine. It's not that the heaving sailboat or ship or ocean is "toxic", it's just that that combo messes with some people's nervous systems and they get sick.

Display makers can't be held liable for the crappy tech they make that some sensitive users can't tolerate, anymore than a sailboat manufacturer can be held liable for getting people seasick.

While all of ApleInc's newest iPhones indeed sport their garbage flickering OLED displays, there's still plenty of LCD options without PWM available in slightly older iPhones currently for sale.
I for one can't tolerate any of their flickering OLED displays - but instead of starting a thread threatening retaliation, I purchased an Apple refurbished iPhone 8 plus two days ago and I'll get it in two days and it will be a good phone for me (with zero eyestrain) for at least another three years - and by then maybe ApleInc will have sorted out their flickering display problems.

Buy an LCD phone. There's lots of choices available

So I walk while talking on my phone, and occasionally, my shoelaces come untied. Can I sue Apple on behalf of everyone who wears shoes?
