I don’t know what the deal is with EVERYTHING having auto playing videos. The moment Netflix added this feature is when I cancelled my account. The moment Apple TV added it, I cancelled my Apple TV+ account.

I find this to be the most jarring and unsettling user experience on any platform or device. Yes, this is worse, or at least as bad as, pop up ads on websites.

What possible reason could a platform have to not simply add a button to disable this? There’s a button to disable the audio for auto playing trailers. There’s an option to prevent the next show in a series from playing. Just add another for the trailer video itself.

I’ve sent feedback about this several times. It’s genuinely disrupting my experience using Apple products. I’ve purchased movies that can’t be watched anywhere but the Apple TV app. I’d like to browse and purchase more. In a way, this is encouraging me to download movies without paying for them.

I just can’t. I can’t explain why but it’s just not something my body will permit. It’s a painful and aggravating experience and I don’t understand how any person would like this.

There’s always been an option to turn off auto playing of videos.

Accessibility > Motion > Auto-Play Video Previews
That's a stupid place to put such an important function. I can't thank you enough. You've changed my life.

I have a 30+ year history using computers, et al. I have worked as a graphic designer and have designed and programmed user interfaces for automated homes. I do not feel stupid for not finding this setting.

I don't know who's actually calling the shots over at Apple but they need to be replaced with someone who will revive the User Experience company it used to be. I'm adding this seemingly insignificant detail to my long and quickly growing list of examples where Apple has clearly lost interest in the user experience.
