I've got b5 on my phone and touch, but I leave for Europe for a few weeks tomorrow and not taking a laptop. Assuming GM hits before too long, I suppose I'll be able to move to it OTA?

I don't see why not, assuming that Apple enables OTA to GM and you have enough space on your iPhone.

I guess that's my question... would there be any reason apple would block b5-->gm ota?

Unlikely but nobody here can know, we can only give you opinions, which in the end are worthless.

They did block b4 -> b5 OTA update for those who had updated b3->b4 OTA as well...

I'm pretty sure if you leave tomorrow and are back in a few weeks iOS5 GM won't be out in 2 to 3 weeks. Apple said it would be released in the fall which doesn't start till September 23 :D

Even so since Apple has not scheduled an event to announce the iPhone 5 I highly doubt it till drop before that announcement.

    Enjoy Europe
