Can you be blacklisted by trying to unlock IMEI?

Curious. If you use one of the many IMEI unlocking sites on the web for the iPhone 7, is there any risk of your IMEI being blacklisted by AT&T? The scenario would be that my iPhone 7 is locked via an AT&T Next agreement, but I want it to be unlocked before paying the full amount of the phone.

Anyone have any experience with this type of situation?
