can you chain a regular monitor off of the imac thunderbolt

I know you cant have a regular monitor if its the second or third in a thunderbolt chain but what about if you just run the regular display right from imacs thunderbolt port. then will it work?

Directly connected to a Mac will work. Look for the Mini DisplayPort Adapters on the Apple Store website. At least some of them say "...to a Mac with a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt port."

I don't think you can. You mean for fast file transfers and stuff?

No, I mean using the second just as a display. For a two display setup. If I i three years get a second thunderbolt ready iMac.
