Simply use your USB data cable and connect it to the WD media player. I use "Buzz Player." It's an iPhone app that enables multi-video format playback, [.mkv, .avi, .3gp, etc...]

The app has an "External Display" option which automatically connects to your TV and uses the iPhone as an external HD.

Simply navigate to your media storage with the remote control and viola!

but i cant watch the videos that are on my camera roll

thats what i want to do, with the wd tv player & iphone
 
doesn't the WD TV player have a component (red-green-blue) or composite (yellow-red-white) input?
if so, use the apple cable (Component or Composite) to connect iPhone to the WD?
