I am with AT&T and I'm due for an upgrade but everyone is saying on here that Apple has much more stock and as a result they are shipping sooner.

1 - Read a few of the thousand posts that say you can do this.

2 - Read a few of the thousand posts that may suggest you do not use your upgrade but instead pay outright or use next, and switch to a better service plan.

3 - Here are screen pics of what my "upgrades" would cost, direct from Apple Website.

Why are people suggesting but using your upgrade? Sorry I've read quite a bit and haven't read this.

Apple's site is linked to all the carriers. You get the upgrade price when buying thru Apple's website.

Oh gotcha, cool thanks. What is the above poster talking about in regard to it costing more to upgrade, and what is Next?

The term "upgrade" is not always the best term since they started separating hardware from service. Add in the changes to new data plans, and it it gets messy.

My iphone 5s for example would not normally be due for any upgrade yet,but if I switch to NEXT - it does not matter.

Next is an alternative to the traditional 2-yr contract. With next, you pay for the cost of the phone over a period of time but are eligible each year to upgrade, but you have to trade in your old phone. There are numerous threads on here explaining the pros and cons of next. I haven't read them, I just stick to the two-year contract. I always skip the -S updates and get a new phone every two years. Apple has been doing significant redesigns every two years, so it works for me. The other advantage of the two-year contract is that you can keep/sell your old phone. It's unlocked so it can be used when traveling in Europe, for instance.

AGAIN - not the full story. If you keep your "next" phone for more than a year and pay all the payments, you bill then drops. And, you now OWN the phone. Sell it, keep as backup, etc. And it can be unlocked once paid for. You could even keep that phone for intl travel.

So with next I'm basically saving $170?

I'm on a family plan
That doesn't really tell us anything. What kind of family plan? The new Mobile Share or the old style Family Talk plans? How many minutes? Do you have a messaging package? How much data do you have (shared or per line)? Are there still any dumbphones on the plan?

Is there any way to find this information via AT&Ts website? I have been unable to get through on the phone to either AT&T or Apple since preorders started.

You can see your current plan on ATT website.

You can share it here and folks will help you - if you share enough.

You can get your next phone via contract or NEXT via ATT or Apple - or many other vendors.

Ok great thanks - can I get this info even if my dad is the account holder?
