I got rid of my iphone a year ago. Most iphone owners I know can't go five minutes without using their iphone, it's like watching someone trying to keep up a buzz with overcut blow. Also like with bad coke they dump a lot of money into essentially being constantly unsatisfied. It's very sad.

Absolutely not!!

depends - can i still use my ipad & laptop?

if yes: then easily

if no: then not a chance

I run my life through those 3 devices - syncing my to-do's (upwards of 25 a day), work projects, status updates for said work projects, and email (for work, personal and my freelance business)

since all of these actions can be done with any of the 3 devices, I could take hiatus from one (or even 2) and keep the third to pick up slack.

despite the fact that this completely nullifies the whole point of the thread.

The problem with me is that if I don't have my phone on me I get that stressed feeling that I'm missing something. Its impossible to leave the convienance of this single device.

I went without a phone for a week. Not by choice though. My iPhone 3GS got stolen the night before Apple started taking pre-orders for the iPhone 4.

And I had to go the whole week+ between preorders and shipping without any phone because the AT&T rep I talked to raised the possibility that putting a replacement SIM in a dumbphone in the meantime might screw up my upgrade eligibility, and the pending order.

I made it through without too much trouble, and so yeah, I know for a fact that I could go without my phone for a week. And I did realize during that week that obsessing over a piece of electronics like a phone is kinda dumb.

On the other hand, I don't see a benefit to not having my phone. When you do it, you trade in one set of aggravations (being "too connected," always checking your e-mail, people needling you about iOS vs. Android vs. Blackberry) for another set of aggravations (not being able to stay in touch with people, people not being able to find you as easily, not being able to just look something up and find the answer). So, it's a wash.

I think the same can be answered for alot of other smartphones out there. Alot of us need our phones for emergencies and alot of us have an internet addiction to always stay connected.

I did charge my iPhone 4 for a whole day when I first got it. So I can go without it for a day, but not a week. I plan to go to Asia in Sept next year, and may have to leave my iPhone here at home for three weeks. I am so reluctant to do this, but I've had my phone lost or stolen overseas before. I'll likely have a cheaper, unlocked smartphone when I go. Considering my phone is my only source for the net right now since my Windows got corrupted, it is hard to live without it. Perhaps I CAN live without it for a week, but would I really WANT to at first? Hell no!

I just got rid of my iPhone a few days ago. I'd had one for about a year and a few weeks ago I realized I had no use for it.

I'm now on a $30 Nokia Go Phone and it suits my needs just fine.

My Iphone yes, its my personal phone. However my blackberry no, it's for work, running a business is money for me, the BB goes everywhere I go.

End of the day, both are smart phones as long as my work phone is up and running thats all i need.

Considering I use it for practically every practicality, from entertainment to information, I would miss it. But yes, I can live without it. Heck, there are times the girlfriend and I see each other only once in a week, and here I am squalling over eschewing some electronic, artificial device for a week's time? But then again, my iPhone doesn't argue with me...

No it is imperative I use my iPod on the peasant wagon (bus) in the morning so i can distract myself from the souless faces of people going toa crappy job like me. I also play on apps at work while the boss isn't looking:p

Not a chance. There is too much information out there in the world that needs inhaling.

I installed the zagg today & have to wait 24hours before using the phone , and it wasnt easy

I cant imagine going one full week without it

specially when im out

Why did you wait 24 hours? I put a zagg on and immediately use it. What is the point of waiting 24 hours?

I didn't know you were suppose to wait 24hrs after installing invisible shield. I always use my phone as soon as the invisible shield is installed and I've never had any problems.

Sigh......what has technology done to people?

Can't go a day without a phone, no one has domestic skills.

If electricity went out in the US for 2 weeks I couldn't imagine what would happen.

I was without my 3GS for atleast a month when it broke on me. 2 of the weeks were without and phone at all. I really didn't care TBH.

Not the iPhone but Smart Phone in general.

I had to sell my BlackBerry 9700 a few weeks before the iPhone 4 came out and to make things worst add another 3 weeks waiting because it was out of stock up here.

It was a PITA, especially the first few days. I didn't have a back-up but my boy lent me his old Nokia Dummy Phone, it made phone calls which helped but I was still hurting because I didn't get my E-Mails and had no access to the Web.

The problem started a few days after, I had bids on eBay and ended up losing it because I had work and no access.

I will buy a back-up next year, since Apple drained my accound this year. I'm hoping to get a new and cheap BlackBerry 9700 or Torch.
