Can you guys explain to me how an external hd works?

Come on.

I'm having a terrible day and maybe asking to get flamed. But how does someone who averages almost 3 1/2 posts a per day and 600 in total not know how a hard drive works. BTW, how can I become a 6502 instead of just a regular? Yeah, that's my jealosy talking.
