Can you make and receive facetime audio calls on apple watch?

I use this everyday to call my friends and family, but is it possible to call and receive facetime audio calls from the watch? I know you can call phone numbers directly. But I would like to also be able to call my facetime contacts since they are located in other countries.

Not currently. The hardware seems to be there, so hopefully Apple will add this in an update.
