kind of a random problem, but i often will have my MBP in the same room as my tv and it is annoying to have to cover up the ir sensor every time i want to use the my apple tv so that it doesn't activate front row? pairing with apple tv certainly does not do the trick, so some suggestions would be appreciated.

Pair your MBP's remote with the MBP, that way that will be the only remote that will do anything to the MBP.

I am at work and don't have my Mac in front of me, but I think you go to System Preferences, Security and turn the remote off on the MBP. That will keep it from recognizing any remotes. I think you can only turn it on or off. Was it is paired/on, it will work with any Apple remote.
