I know they do not work in stereo yet. I would like to just have a pair running in a room. Haven’t found a way to do it with the home app

It doesn't appear possible to control more than one at a time from an iPod or iPhone, however if you are streaming from your computer or laptop, using iTunes, then you can select multiple HomePods to play the same thing simultaneously.

Bummer, that's what it looked like. Looks like I will have to wait for the next iOS and HomePod update.

So I do not have 2 HomePods.
But
I had initially set up my homepod at home over the weekend and then took it with me to work the next day to be able to listen to most of the day.
When I got back home to add it back to my home network my phone thought I had 2 Homepods on the same network and wanted to set up stereo pair.

Does anyone here actually have two homepods and have seen this screen?

You can set up the stereo homepods via Airfoil on a mac.

The trick is basically to have 2 copies of Airfoil and setting one homepod with left balance and simultaneously setting the right balance for the other homepod.
