Carrier Can you preorder through AT&T, or should I stick with Apple upgrade?

Was thinking of going ahead and getting my upgrade on ATT Next just to eliminate that random charge coming from the Apple upgrade program.

Can I make an order with AT&T to get a phone as quickly as I can get one through Apple?

I’m thinking no, but I haven’t done anything like that with AT&T since I’ve been doing the Apple upgrade plan, so I was just curious.

Most Carrier stores, like AT&T will take pre-orders. So yes, you can preorder through AT&T.

Edit: What random charges are you talking about with the iUP? You mean the applecare Plus charge?

Yes you can pre order through AT&T. All 4 major carriers do pre orders.

Yes, my question as well.

Also the only device I ordered from AT&T was the 6. The shipping date kept getting pushed back and there was some rumor going on that orders through Apple get a preference, no idea of the validity of the rumor.

I eventually cancelled my order and picked one up from the nearest Apple Store.

I recall a website where you could check Apple store stock and it was broken down by colors and memory. And if you were quick enough you could reserve one. I got either the 6+ or 7+ that way. I had an AT&T order and ended up cancelling it right after I had the Apple store phone in my hands.

Oh I’m sorry. I just meant having the charge from Apple for the payment plan separately (guess that’s why I called it a random charge - just since it isn’t lumped in with my other phone stuff) instead of just having all my phone stuff on my one AT&T bill.

Basically, you purchase the iPhone as you normally would through Apple's site or store app, then wen you choose to upgrade your AT&T phone, you'll be able to choose the Next plan.
