MacBook Air Retina 13 inch 2020 1.2Ghz 4C i7 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD.

I recently had a boot problem and applerepair replaced the logic board, touch ID sensor, and clean installed Ventura.

Every hour or two while browsing the web, reading articles, looking at FaceBook, the screen goes blank and I hear a low level hiss. A few seconds later the MBA restarts.

Does these screen shots of the error report and the crash report indicate a hardware problem? I'd hate to waste time chasing down software.

Applerepair clean installed the latest version of Ventura. I let Ventura transfer apps and data from a TimeMachine backup of the MBA that was running last year's OS. Perhaps that was a mistake, I'll have to double check that.

I just googled "Shutdown Cause: 0xc1" and "x86 CPU CATERR" and it seems to have been talked about often over the years, rarely with a satisfactory resolution and that sometimes was trying logic boards until finding one that works, or updating the OS until finding one that works... . :(

Anyone hear of anything new?

Perhaps its time to start looking at a replacement.

Yes, sorry, I was a bit frustrated... I reintstalled the OS and migrated. Things have been working OK, no restarts yet, knock on wood.

Well after two days its at it again. Seems once it heats up and there is video going on the screen goes blank, a short hiss from the speakers, and a few seconds later it restarts.

I have the exact same laptop (MacBook Air Retina 13 inch 2020 1.2Ghz 4C i7 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD.) and also having these shutdowns, although not nearly as frequently.

I just acquired the machine recently as a refurb from Best Buy. Like you, Diagnostic doesn't report any problems. My search for a root cause and solution led me here.

I have nothing useful to add other than "you're not alone". I'm debating installing Sonoma to see if that helps. Normally I don't like .0 software but maybe it might help?
